We will be attending this year’s CME2012: Construction and Mining Expo. Due to an increasing workload and as part of our plans for 2012 we have expanded our operations, by opening up a new facility which will specifically focus on motor and marine trimming, in addition to customized trim work.

This will allow us to allocate the space previously used for trim work to handle the increased demand for mining and construction related work. The expansion will have a twofold effect;

• the new facility will allow us to dedicate staff and resources to the trimming portion of our business to provide an even better service to these customers and
• with the extra floor space provided at our current facility, we can structure the flow of seats through our workshop better, thereby increasing the efficiency in which we prepare new seats or service seats sent in by customers.

Going forward the MMT Mining Services facility which focuses on Suspension Seats and related activity will continue to be based at Unit 2/12 Adrian Street Welshpool, while the new facility operating under the name Modern Motor Trimmers is located just 300 metres away at 54 Tate Street Welshpool.

In line with these changes we have also launched a brand new website for MMT Mining Services which features information on ISRI seats, our service and repair work, access to previous MMT newsletters, special offers and more.

These are not just cheap imported covers  for this low price. We buy the canvas in bulk from a Australian supplier and  make them in bulk. They are NOT  suited for Hi lux’s with built in air bags in the front seats. The canvas is 12 ounce proofed and has minimal shrinkage. We carry these canvas covers in stock because we supply them the  Mining Industry Australia wide .

We were asked to supply and install a suspension seat into at Caterpillar 777D Truck for the trainer to reduce the vibration that they receive and make it a all round more comfortable ride.

If anybody has ever sat in the Buddy seat for more that 10 minutes you soon come to realise that there isn’t much room and the 2″ piece of foam that you sit on isn’t very comfortable.

To fit the seat we had to remove the steel framed box and the original seat and re engineer the mounting, we then fitted the new seat and riser. The ISRI 6500/577 seat we used has a high backrest and a 3″ lap retractable seat-belt . The ISRI 6500/577 seat has automatic self leveling suspension so the trainer doesn’t need to adjust the air ride of the seat.

 The total time to modify the cab and fit  the seat was 5 hours and involved 2 people. I think the time it took to complete the job adds a extra level of comfort to any person unfortunate to that has to sit in the seat for a extended period of time.

On a recent trip to a Mining Expo in China, I saw first hand the differences in Quality  and Price

Yes the seats they were displaying were cheaper, and for the average person they may save a few dollars, but at what cost savings are you getting  over the life of the vehicle and what about  your comfort?

Here are a few pointers that you should be aware of when looking at a over seat package. Is the seat compliant with the State and Federal laws governing ADR Rules, Vibration standards set down by International Bodies. Some of these   Standards  will also cover how the seat is made IE welding of the frames, suspension characteristics, operator weight ranges. Then other points are spare parts, service back up  and suspension adjustments handle road conditions.

The other issues that need to be looked at are has the plastics and foams been tested to withstand prolonged UV rays, does the company making it have a safety policy, does the companies manufacturing processes impact on the environment? 

All these factors need to be weighed up when purchsing a cheap seat and will it really be that cheap in the long run. Even if you are not buying the seats from another country these questions should be asked.

ISRI Seats Perth recently attended the GME Kalgoorlie expo we displayed a range of ISRI  seats along with Hydraulic Ram covers and Canvas Seatcovers.

We had a great response to the release of the new ISRI  6860KM 875 seat with extra fetures from the standard ISRI 6860/870 mining seat these  are built in 24volt compressor and adjustable top seatbelt guide.

The seat is now displayed in our show room along with the rest of the ISRI seat range, were they can be trialed for comfort and adjustments.
